Athens Students Vote to Recall Troy Mayor in Mock Election

Students also voted to re-elect President Barack Obama.

Even though many may not yet be of voting age, Troy Athens High School students still got a chance to cast their ballot Tuesday.

In a mock election held during school hours on Tuesday, Athens students voted to keep the president – and kick out Troy Mayor Janice Daniels.

According to Troy School District spokesperson Kerry Birmingham, President Barack Obama beat out Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the mock election by 200 votes.

"The mayor was recalled by a two thirds majority," Birmingham added.

"Roughly around 1400-1450 students voted today in the Athens Mock Election, according to a teacher coordinating it," tweeted the Scarlet Letter (@AthensSL), Athens' student paper.

Well, maybe their vote on Daniels will be a reflection of their parents' votes.
