Troy Schools Seeks Input on Superintendent Search

Two meetings are scheduled in Troy during the first week of February.

Troy School District Board of Education is beginning the process of replacing Dr. Barbara Fowler, who is retiring after more than three decades of distinguished service to the district. The board is soliciting community and staff input on the qualities, experiences, and skills needed in our new superintendent. Residents of the district, all staff and administration are encouraged to participate in this process.

The board is being assisted in its search by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), a service organization that supports the work of school boards throughout Michigan,. Donna Oser, CAE, and Rodney P. Green, Ph.D., are facilitating the search on behalf of MASB.

Oser and Green will be holding meetings in the district to give the community and staff opportunity for input. Parents and all community members are invited to share their perspectives at the following meetings:

  • Monday, February 3, 2014 6:00 PM Administration Building, 4400 Livernois
  • Thursday, February, 6, 2014 6:00 PM Services Building, 4420 Livernois

The survey is being administered by the MASB Executive Search team on behalf of the District and takes about ten minutes to complete. Anonymous individual responses will be combined with those from the face to face meetings with stakeholders to provide important community input to the Troy Board of Education as it seeks to identify the best candidate for the position.

The new superintendent is expected to assume the position July 1, 2014.
