Walsh College Expanding as Part of $15 Million Renovation Project

New additions include a student center and an expanded business communications department, according to school officials.

Walsh College officials announced a $15 million renovation project at its annual state of the college address in Troy last week.

College president Stephanie Bergeron said that the renovation will include a new, 50,000 square-foot student center and an expanded business communications department.

"It will enhance our visual presence on the outside and more importantly, it will dramatically enrich our student experience with this more-engaged, more-connected, more-discriminating student who will be coming to Walsh in the future," Bergeron said in the address.

The last addition at Walsh College was the 37,000-square-foot Jeffrey W. Barry Center, which was completed in 2007.

Bergeron said that the front yard of the new addition would be "inspired by" the Barry Center. Construction will take about one year and according to officials, no start date has been set.
