PHOTOS: Golfing in Troy ... in January?

Golfers flocked to Sylvan Glen Golf Course in Troy to take advantage of Friday's unseasonably warm temperatures and sunny skies.

Golfing in January may be normal in Arizona, California and other southern states, but in Michigan?

"It's really nice!" Troy resident Lawrence Wu said as he pulled a putter out of his golf bag Friday afternoon at Sylvan Glen Golf Course in Troy. "I don't remember playing golf in January. Ever."

Wu, along with more than 100 other golfers, made his way to the public golf course Friday after temperatures started climbing well above the average high of 30 degrees. By early afternoon, the temperature had reached 53 degrees in Troy – just four degrees shy of the record high set in 1998.
