Troy Sting Hockey Players Get Cool Treat

Famed NHL announcer Mike "Doc" Emrick called the play-by-play action of a game between the St. Clair Shores Saintes and Troy Sting for a taped segment for NBC's Rock Center.

The hockey players on the St. Clair Shores Saintes and Troy Sting 12U Girls teams received a cool treat this week.

The two teams played last month in Troy as famed NHL play-by-play announcer Mike “Doc” Emrick called the game for a taped segment which aired Thursday night on NBC’s Rock Center.

Emrick calls hockey games for NBC Sports, though he has little action this year with the NHL lockout.

Kim Clexton, a Grosse Pointe Park resident and parent of one of the players on the St. Clair Shores Saintes, said cameras taped action all over the rink and in the stands. Parents provided short bios and fun facts for their daughters to aid in the play-by-play.
