How Do You Make Metro Detroit a Better Place?

“Random acts of kindness.” It’s a popular phrase we hear regularly, so often that we can overlook its altruistic meaning. When was the last time you challenged yourself to do something positive for your community? Here at The Salvation Army, we call it Doing the Most Good.

Doing the Most Good has different meanings. There is no right or wrong answer. Doing the Most Good can be something big like setting time aside to volunteer or donating to your favorite charity. It can also be something small, yet powerful, like holding a door open for a stranger or sending a card to someone who made a difference in your life.

Whatever the act and whatever the reason, The Salvation Army encourages metro Detroiters of all ages to make Doing the Most Good their personal mission during our ninth annual Doing the Most Good Week from May 10 – 18. It’s a time for people to make a stronger commitment to helping others.

With your support, The Salvation Army is committed to Doing the Most Good with every minute, resource and dollar donated. In fact, 85 cents of every dollar contributed is directly allocated to services that assist people in need. Doing the Most Good is a compassionate commitment we have made to people who are hurting. We’re there to help anyone, anytime, anyplace. Our goal is to give our neighbors a hand up – not a hand out – to help them see a brighter tomorrow.

So think about the great impact it will have on metro Detroit if we each do one good deed and how it can turn into millions of good deeds.
