Kim's Restaurant is fixture in the Troy area. Opened in 1974, it is located near the intersection of Long Lake and Livernois Roads in a freestanding building. Kim's has helpful, knowledgeable staff and an expansive menu. The restaurant is decorated with traditional Chinese paintings, lanterns and sculptures.Kim's offers many unique products, such as gluten-free Chinese items. The restaurant also serves bubble drinks (shaken or whipped drinks, fruit or tea based, with tapioca pearl "bubbles.")Vegetarian and low-calorie foods are available, and food is made with no MSG upon request. Meals for two, three, four, five and six are also available, to split amongst those at the table.Kim's is a family Chinese and American restaurant, which also offers corporate catering and banquet room rentals for private parties. Special events are also held in the banquet room, such as a fall craft show and a summer classic car show.Kim's Restaurant was voted Detroit's No. 1 Chinese Restaurant three years in a row by viewers of "Click on Channel 4." It was also briefly featured in the film Harold and Kumar 3."We're a reasonable, quick and friendly service restaurant," said manager Margaret Yee.
