The Troy Fire Department consists of nearly all volunteer firefighters, with paid career staff making up only 6…More percent of the entire department.
The city maintains six fire stations throughout Troy, as well as a training center that is shared with the Troy Police Department. Offices at Troy City Hall, 500 W. Big Beaver, house the fire department's adminisrative offices where the fire chief, assistant chief, staff lieutenants and staff technicians are located.
The department maintains an authorized staff about 180 volunteers and 10 career firefighters. All Troy firefighters are certified by the State of Michigan. Volunteers are on-call 24-hours a day to respond to requests for service such as fires, vehicle extrications and other emergencies.
The Troy Fire Department is the largest in Oakland County and the largest volunteer/combination fire department in the state.
