Achatz Pie Sales Support Troy Colts' Band; Buy Sweets Online

Looking for a simple way to complete your Thanksgiving meal? Buy a pie and help the Colts.

For some people “desserts” is just “stressed” spelled backwards.  With the help of the Troy High School Band, dessert-making for holiday gatherings can be as easy as pie.  This year the bands are selling award-winning, delicious, Michigan-made Achatz pies to help make celebrations more enjoyable.  A portion of all pie sales will support the Troy Colt Bands. Achatz famous fruit pies – think Michigan 4 Berry or Double-crust Apple -  come ready to bake.  Pumpkin pies are “easy thaw and serve.”  And cream pies, like the scrumptious French Silk or Cannoli Cream - can be picked up fresh in the Achatz store using a handy “pie coupon.” Prices range from $16 to $18.  Pies ordered by November 14th will be ready for pick-up December 5.   For the …

What Will It Be? ‘Easy as Pie’ or a ‘Piece of Cake?’

With dad and 'grad' gatherings in full swing, Troy party hosts have a sweet selection of special-order dessert spots.

With Father’s Day around the bend and graduation parties in full throttle, we took an informal survey of Troy residents on their favorite special-occasion desserts. Will it be cake or pie? With such sweet spots as The Grand Traverse Pie Company, TCBY, and Baskin- Robbins, and their frozen yogurt and ice cream cakes, the family-owned Achatz Handmade Pie Co. and the new Just Baked cupcake shop, it’s not an easy decision. “At a graduation party, I’d like cupcakes from Just Baked,” said Laura Scaccia, a mother of four and a marketing specialist. “For Father’s Day, a TCBY cake. This story reminds me of something I've been wondering about; I've had some of the most amazing cakes from Garrett's Cake Shop on Livernois ... but I heard recently that it closed. Does anyone know if that's true?   more ›
