Dennis Hubbard's prize is four tickets to the Detroit Zoo.
The photo caption stated: "I thought it was July 2011, but maybe it was 2011 BC." It was a photo entry of a giganotosaurus on Friday afternoon that was selected as the random winner of Patch's "Share Your Memories of the Detroit Zoo" contest. The winner, Dennis Hubbard, of Farmington Hills entered a picture of a life-like animatronic dinosaur at the popular Dinosauria exhibit at the Detroit Zoo. "Winning these tickets means our family of seven and our good friends, a family of five, will be spending a day at the Detroit Zoo together!" said Hubbard. Hubbard will receive win four complimentary tickets (two adults and two children) to the zoo courtesy of the Detroit Zoological Society. Thanks for participating. Congratulations, Dennis! And …

It's a special place for generations of Michigan residents and visitors. Upload your photos and tell your stories and you could win four tickets to the zoo to enjoy it again.
UPDATE: The contest is now closed and we'll be notifying winners Friday, Feb. 17. Thanks for your entries! We've got four tickets to give away to Detroit Zoo! After reading Patch columnist Gerry Boylan's Detroit Zoo edition of Do You Remember? we started feeling all warm and fuzzy. Our mischievous Gerry shares his childhood memories of red elephant keys, chimpanzee shows, and hitching rides on the back of the guided tour cars. We know most Michiganders have fond memories of the zoo, which first opened in 1928. Many of us went to the zoo as kids with our schools, Scout troops or families, and we return with our own children and grandchildren. Over the years, a lot of pictures have been taken in front of the Horace Rackham Fountain, the …

You've been to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit; now it's time to dream. Whether it's a Mercedes or a Ford, chances are you had a favorite car (we wonder if this Bentley is a favorite of chef Wolfgang Puck?) And more than likely, you have a photo of yourself in front of that car to prove it. Patch wants to see your photos from the auto show, and we'll reward you for it. Upload your photos here all week long; after the show closes next Sunday night, we'll choose 20 photo contributors at random to receive a Patch T-shirt or Patch hat. Here are the details:

Out of nearly 2,000 photos submitted, the grand prize choice wins a Mackinac Island adventure.
Sunsets, family reunions, beaches, city skylines, tubing on lakes, Tiger games, wildlife, Mackinac Island and so much more. Those are among the nearly 2,000 images readers shared over eight weeks of the Your Patch of Michigan photo contest. So it was tough to choose just one grand prize winner from the eight weekly winners, but we did: Beth Potts' snapshot of her new husband, Chris, during their honeymoon canoe trip to Isle Royale in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer. "We packed everything into the canoe and he navigated our way along the south shore to Moskey Basin, where we camped overlooking the bay," said Potts, of Grosse Pointe Woods. "We've both traveled internationally and around the U.S., but you don't have to leave Michigan …

Grand prize winner to be announced next week.
Our love of sports is a huge part of what makes Michigan what it is, illustrated by the winners of our final weekly Your Patch of Michigan photo contest. During Week 8 - the final week - of the contest, more than 160 photos that share readers' visions of Michigan were submitted for a grand total of nearly 2,000 entries during the eight weeks. We had two winners this week: Kristin Schreck of Rochester Hills' snapshot of the exciting end of a Detroit Tigers game and Grosse Pointe native and current Up North resident Gretchen Dorian's capture of the finish of this year's Port Huron-to-Mackinac Race. Early next week, we will announce the grand prize winner selected from all of the weekly winners. The grand prize winner will receive a …

Readers submit more than 100 photos of their favorite Michigan spots and moments each week.
Michigan is full of school pride and love of nature – both depicted in the winning photos from Week 6 and Week 7 of our Your Patch of Michigan photo contest. In Week 6, which saw more than 100 photos submitted, Terri Melvin Denhof shared a winning photo of a bunch of diehard Michigan State fans with mascot Sparty showing off their devotion to MSU. The Week 7 winning picture was more subdued but just as inspiring, as Bill Beckley captured snow covered tulips braving a late April snowstorm showed. "It demonstrates just how unpredictable Michigan weather can be, but the beauty of a Michigan spring will prevail," said Beckley of Ypsilanti. A close second among the 150-plus submitted photos that week was a snapshot of a storm cloud threatening …

The end to a perfect family reunion day in Capac captured Week 3 of the Your Patch of Michigan Photo contest. I was excited to see the article about the "Sleeping Hippo" outside of the zoo's entrance. When I was three years old, the hippo was moved from the entrance to Hudson's in the Oakland Mall. I always looked forward to visiting the hippo and playing on her, so when she disappeared I was upset. My dad helped me write a letter, asking where she had gone. I was excited to see the response back - she …   more ›
