Police Still Investigating Sunday Crash that Killed Madison Heights Woman

No charges have been filed against the driver as of Friday morning, police say.

The Sunday afternoon crash that killed a 52-year-old Madison Heights woman is still under investigation, Troy Police Capt. Robert Redmond said Friday morning. There has been "no decision made as to any charges yet," he added. The woman was killed Sunday afternoon when she was struck by a car in the Atlas Market parking lot. The driver, a 68-year-old Troy woman, was backing out of her parking space when she struck the woman, who was walking to meet her children at her car, according to Redmond. According to a bystander, the woman was pinned under the car as rescue crews worked to free her around 4 p.m. Sunday. Attorney Asks About Eyewitness, 'Unknown Fluid,' and Medical Records in Patterson Crash

The defense attorney for the Royal Oak man charged in the crash involving Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson files motions in Rochester Hills District Court.

A Royal Oak man charged with three misdemeanor counts in an August crash involving Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson was in a Rochester Hills courtroom today for a pre-trial hearing before Judge Lisa Asadoorian. Anthony Prainito, 31, the driver of the Volkswagen Passat that Patterson's Chrysler 300 crashed into at the intersection of Walton and Opdyke, is charged with three counts of moving violation causing serious impairment of a bodily function in the crash. He pleaded not guilty.  Prainito’s defense attorney, Joshua Nucian, brought a stack of motions to court today and more may be coming as he awaits responses on Freedom of Information Act requests along with an accident investigator’s inspection of the vehicles involved in …

UPDATED: Troy Police Cruiser Swerves, Flips Over to Avoid Collision

The officer was responding to the area near Maple and Thunderbird roads to assist Birmingham Police in locating a speeding motorcyclist.

A Troy police officer patrolling Maple Road in Troy sustained minor injuries Monday night when the patrol vehicle he was driving hit a curb and flipped over, according to Troy Police Department spokesman Lt. Bob Redmond. "(A) police officer was heading east on Maple near Thunderbird at about 10:40 p.m. when a car turned in front of him," Redmond said in an email to Troy Patch on Tuesday morning. "He swerved to avoid a collision (and) struck the curb, which caused the vehicle to roll over." The car came to rest upside down just feet from a utility pole. Police Briefs: Pickup Hits House; Dogs Stolen from Yard

The following incidents are from police reports recently received by the Troy Police Department: Officers with the Troy Police Department responding at 2:07 a.m. Saturday to the report of a pickup that struck a house in the 5000 block of Cliffside arrested a 28-year-old Troy man on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. The homeowner told police the truck crashed into her house and the driver was trying to get it "unstuck from the house," police said Tuesday in a news release. Officers spoke with the driver who stated he missed the turn to go north on Cliffside from Larkins and ran over the curb and front lawn, crashing into the house, police said. Updated: Woman Injured in Rochester Hills Crash in Stable Condition

A 21-year-old woman is recovering from serious injuries sustained Thursday in a two-vehicle crash near Auburn Road and Rochester Road.

A 21-year-old Troy woman who received serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Rochester Hills was listed in stable condition Saturday morning, according to hospital officials. Megan Steeg, 21, of Troy, was driving west on Auburn Road about 10:12 a.m. Thursday when her 2004 Dodge Neon collided with a 2007 Jeep sport utility vehicle stopped for a light at Barclay Circle, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Steeg received serious injuries to her upper body and was transported by the Rochester Hills Fire Department to POH Regional Medical Center. Sheriff's officials said the driver of the Jeep, Jeannine Phelan, 59, of Rochester Hills, received minor injuries. A hospital spokeswoman on Saturday said Steeg is coming …
