The season has changed, and so must our Facebook photo. Here is a submission from one of our readers we will use to illustrate the change in season from winter to spring for our Facebook page.
We've freshened up the Troy Patch Facebook page cover photo to reflect the new season in our community. Farewell cold, gray skies, and welcome to these plants making their way up to the sun. Hollie Wesp Dooley shared this photo with the community on Sunday. We can still use more! Click on the "Upload Photos and Videos" button to add a recent photograph, something from your archives, a painting or a drawing. There's no age requirement to submit: You just have to be a Troy Patch user and be able to create a 100 percent original piece of work owned by you for us to use. Troy High 2012 graduate posts poignant message telling smokers, "you never know what you'll miss."
On the first anniversary of her father's lung cancer death at 57, a recent Troy High graduate posted a powerful, personal message to smokers of all ages. "You are not immune to the dangers," Lia Grabowski says in a Facebook presentation of 16 handwritten photo slides. "It may not hurt you now, but you never know what you'll miss." Earlier slides list three family milestones already missed by Felix Grabowski, a former online news director at The Detroit News and co-founder of a national online education service firm based in Troy. Grabowski, who died at home Aug. 31, 2011, was in the forefront of print journalism's migration to the Internet. He helped develop detnews.com, a pioneering newspaper site launched in 1995. In what she calls a …

We're updating our Facebook page and want to showcase your photos in our "timeline."
We all have a favorite photo backdrop around town. Whether it's a shot down the Big Beaver corridor, a snapshot at a local park or a photo of your own back yard, there are amazing settings everywhere you look in Troy. We want to show them off. Much like we did during our Patch of Michigan photo contest last summer, we want to compile a gallery of favorite photos from Troy. We'll use our favorites in the new "timeline" collage we're creating for our Troy Patch Facebook page. Have a Troy photo to show off? Click "upload" and share it with Patch readers.

The post has been shared more than 100 times by outraged Facebook users by Friday evening; Janice Daniels adds a comment of her own and draws responses.
Janice Daniels is not yet a month into her new position as mayor of Troy, and she is already causing controversy after a status update slamming gay marriage on what appears to be her personal Facebook page went viral Friday afternoon. The June 25 status update reads: "I think I am going to throw away my I Love New York carrying bag now that queers can get married there." The post was tucked among other posts and photos about Daniels' mayoral campaign, as well as personal photos and status updates. As the status, which was first discovered by Keep Troy Strong on Thursday, made its way around Facebook, Twitter and the web, hundreds of people shared and commented on it. In a report Friday evening by MLive, an Ann Arbor-based news site, the …
