Troy Students Score Well Above State Average on Merit Exam
Test results show proficiency in writing, math and science from 2011 to 2012.
The percentage of Troy School District high schoolers scoring at or above a "proficient" level on the Michigan Merit Exam this year was well above the state average in all subjects. The scores, released Thursday, show students' strengths in all areas of the test, which eleventh-graders took over three days in March. In Troy, the percent of students proficient in reading, writing and math improved; scores dipped slightly in science and social studies. On the ACT college entrance exam, Troy students scored an average of 23.6; the state average was 19.6.
