Four police reports filed over the past week involve a man exposing himself and making lewd comments to women while driving in his red SUV.
Troy Police issued a "stranger danger" alert on Wednesday in response to four police reports filed since May 4 of a man following women in his car, exposing himself, and making lewd comments. The incidents, three of which occurred in Troy and one in Royal Oak, each took place in the afternoon, mostly involving women who were exercising at the time: The man is described as about 30-years-old (police said that some witnesses described him between 18 to 35 and others 35 to 40); with short, dark hair; scruffy looking; and spoke with a slight accent. Four children, between ages 5 and 13, were found in the back seat of a car that led Troy Police through the city on an early-morning chase last week. A 33-year-old woman from Pontiac breath tested at .17 percent, more than double the legal limit, after police successfully stopped her car near Interstate-75 and Wattles Road at 1:39 a.m. Thursday. Shemika Shanee Allen was charged with operating while intoxicated (second offense), fleeing and eluding police, child endangerment, and driving with a suspended license (second offense). A Royal Oak woman didn't get far when Troy Police arrested her for operating while intoxicated after nearly hitting a patrol car as she backed out of a driveway. The driver was seen by police at about 11:32 on Tuesday night, stopped in the middle of a side street near Niagara Drive and John R Road. Upon investigating, she quickly backed out of a driveway and nearly hit the officer's car head on before swerving out of the way. She told police that she had been drinking "a lot," adding, "no, I should not be driving." She failed sobriety tests and was arrested, later breath testing at .22 percent, more than double the legal limit of .08. A 6-year-old Clawson boy was placed in his mother's custody after Troy Police arrested the boy's father on a charge of operating while intoxicated as the boy was in the front passenger seat. The 44-year-old father was reported to Troy Police at about 9:10 p.m. by a concerned citizen after exiting Interstate-75 at 14 Mile Road. Officers found the man's car at 14 Mile and Stephenson Highway, driving partially in the left lane and partially in the center turn lane. The man was stopped and officers reported that he smelled of intoxicants and had slurred speech. He failed all five sobriety tests, breath testing at .16 percent, or twice the legal limit of .08.
