Ousted Troy Mayor Janice Daniels told radio personality Charlie Langton on his morning radio show Wednesday that the only thing she regretted from the past year "is that there isn't a balanced media." Daniels was recalled Tuesday when 52 percent of voters chose "yes" on the ballot. Daniels, who has not returned phone calls from Patch seeking comment on her recall, told the AM 1270 audience: "We don’t have a media that’s fair. It’s been very biased against me since the beginning. ... The people deserve balance in the media. That’s what I regret is that we don’t have a balanced media." At the end of the interview, Daniels told Langton: "I’m not going to go away, and I’m not going to move out of town." Once the election is certified, Daniels …

The people of Troy voted 52 percent to 48 percent to recall Mayor Janice Daniels on Tuesday. The votes were 20,763 to 18,993, according to unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk, with all precincts reporting. It all started with a Facebook status update containing a gay slur that then-private citizen Daniels posted on her wall in June of 2011. Then, on Dec. 2, 2011, just weeks after she was sworn in as mayor of Troy, the Facebook post was found, shared, and shared some more, quickly garnering national media attention. Residents were angry. A recall effort was mounted. Nearly 9,000 valid signatures were collected to trigger the Nov. 6 recall election. "I'm elated, over the moon," Recall Janice Daniels co-founder John Kulesz said …

A Troy man may face charges after he illegally removed five yard signs Tuesday afternoon from the corner of East Long Lake and Rochester Roads. The 62-year-old man was removing several Recall Janice Daniels yard signs from the Meadowbrook Plaza shopping center when a recall supporter confronted him.* Per Patch policy, the man's name is not being published unless he is charged. “We’ve been doing stakeouts," Recall Janice Daniels co-founder John Kulesz said. "They’ve been disappearing as quickly as five minutes after we put them up." Kulesz, who was not one of the two individuals watching the signs on Tuesday, said the man "pulled up and started taking our lawn signs down and throwing them in the trunk of the car.” "The signs were legally …

No one can justify the ongoing distorted views and actions of Troy’s contentious mayor, Janice Daniels. Many witnessed the rage in her eyes and disconnect in her thoughts causing them to question if she is fit to lead. Recent media coverage of Mayor Daniels’ intentional misrepresentation of the Leadership Troy 2012 Distinguished Citizen award honoring Mary Kerwin should serve as a warning to Troy voters as they prepare to vote on the YES: to RECALL Janice Daniels on Nov. 6. With 9,300 petition signatures, the silent majority are prepared to put closure to Mayor Daniels’ repugnance, hostility, mismanagement and intimidation. Her bigotry and hate are learned behaviors with serious consequences. Why any person, or group, would support an …

Two days after arguing with the city's 2012 Distinguished Citizen Mary Kerwin while handing her a proclamation during Monday evening’s Troy City Council meeting, Troy Mayor Janice Daniels spoke out about the incident in an interview with Fox 2 Detroit. "This is another example of the way every word that comes out of my mouth is being used by my political opponents to try to destroy me, and I think it's very unfortunate," Daniels told Fox 2 Detroit on Wednesday. To watch the whole interview on Fox 2 Detroit, click here. “In my years of public service, I have never seen a mayor be so dismissive of a city proclamation during a formal presentation," Kerwin, a recall supporter and former city councilwoman, told Troy Patch on Tuesday. "It felt …

Dear Editor: I'm a God-fearing, reverent Christian. I am, since September 2001, a Proud USMC mom. I am voting for Romney. I am also voting to Recall Mayor Janice Daniels. I am writing because I want to express my anger with Mayor Daniels' campaign mailer. She is misleading the public with outright lies! In her mailer, she called the Recall Team “extremists” and said that we convinced people to sign the petition that said that the Mayor wants to eliminate the police and fire departments. Simply not true. I collected signatures. The leadership of the recall team never instructed us to lie to residents! By the way, Mayor Daniels did vote against the Library. She did call the city charter "whimsical." She did tell high school students to talk …

Representatives from political action committees Recall Janice Daniels and No Troy Recall are reporting the disappearance of numerous political signs from yards across Troy as the Nov. 6 general election – where voters will decide whether to recall Troy Mayor Janice Daniels – draws near. “We had one that came up missing within an hour after it had been placed," No Troy Recall treasurer Ray Watts said. "We're trying to bring them in at night and telling people to report the theft to police," Recall Janice Daniels co-founder John Kulesz said. Troy Police Chief Gary Mayer said taking a yard sign from someone's private property is not only wrong – it's illegal and has consequences. "It'd be larceny," Mayer said, adding that it's been a problem…

Tensions between those who support the recall of Troy Mayor Janice Daniels and those who support Daniels are growing as the Nov. 6 election nears.
With time quickly running out, those who support the recall of Troy Mayor Janice Daniels and those who support her are clashing, campaigning and raising funds in an effort to sway Troy voters before the Nov. 6 election. Last week, No Troy Recall – the political action committee supporting the mayor – mailed a four-page flyer to Troy residents (attached) comparing Daniels to the biblical story of Daniel in the Lion's Den and calling Recall Janice Daniels members "extremists." "From the day she was elected the extreme political idealogues in the city have been angry because they lost the election one year ago to a conservative women," reads the first page of the flyer. Daniels beat councilwoman-at-the-time Robin Beltramini, a fellow …

Dale, My very Republican mother always told me when looking for a person to blame look at yourself first . Ms Daniel's and her followers seem to think you project your faults on someone else and never lok at yourself . That prevents any growth by learning from your mistakes   more ›
