Why should you go to a PTA Meeting?

Yes. Each new school year brings forth PTA/PTO meetings, fundraisers, ice cream socials, room parent requests, library volunteering, and an ongoing list of other opportunities to "Get Involved."

Even if you just make it to one PTA meeting and one event - please give it a try. Especially if you have not done it before.

5 REASONS TO VOLUNTEER AT SCHOOL
1) Nothing makes a young child feel more special or excited than to see their parent helping out at school. Children experience great pride when their parents participate.
2) Your being there means a lot to the person who asked for help. If another parent volunteered to organize an event, your contribution of volunteer time makes something bigger possible. It will be noted and appreciated.
3) Events and activities make your school a better community. You want your child's school to be the best it can be. By supporting events and activities - you make the school community stronger, better and more fun.
4) School fundraisers empower your individual school and your PTA. If your PTA raises money - it has the authority on how to spend it. You can go after enhancements that school district budgets won't cover.
5) You'd be amazed at how much you can learn about what's up at school by attending a single PTA meeting. At our school - the reports are brief - but illuminating: Principal comments, teacher summary reports on their behind the scenes activities, PTA briefing on where it plans to make money, spend money and more.

Everyone's time is precious. But, your presence at school can make a positive impact on you and your child. And, being part of a community doesn't just happen. It takes deliberate action.

Have a great new school year - and hope to see you at the next PTA meeting :)
