Ecorse Man Accused of Stabbing at Somerset Collection

Troy Police said Mario Terrell Ridgeway, 28, stabbed another man three times after an argument over money.

A 28-year-old man from Ecorse has been charged in a stabbing Monday at the Somerset Collection.

Mario Terrell Ridgeway was arraigned Wednesday at 52-4 District Court in Troy on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, police said. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or surety, and Ridgeway's next court appearance is scheduled for July 15.

Police said that Ridgeway stabbed a 33-year-old man three times, causing minor injuries which were treated, after an argument over money. The two men, together with three others, met at the victim's house in Ecorse with plans to purchase iPhones from the Apple Store at the upscale mall in Troy and resell them at higher prices.

"They stated that they all had to take turns driving the car, as none of them had a valid driver’s license, and none of them wanted to get caught," police said in a news release.

"Their plan was for all of them to sign up for phone plans, and then be able to purchase the (iPhones) for $199.00 to be re-sold later at a much higher price. Only one of the subjects qualified to buy a phone, so he bought four of them."

Police said that Ridgeway pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the back outside of the mall as the victim tried to flee following the argument, then chased him back into the mall and stabbed him twice more.

Police continued that Ridgeway fled, later to be found at the mall still carrying a folding knife with blood on it.
