Fireworks Violations, Larcenies from Cars Reported to Troy Police

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Auto/vehicle thefts

Suburban Toyota, 1760 Maplelawn, July 12-16: Complainant advised a dark green 1997 Jeep Wrangler Hard Top was stolen from the parking lot over the weekend. 

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud 

3000 block of Myddleton, June 27, 3 p.m.: Resident was contacted by JcPenney regarding a credit application to them. Resident advised he never applied for a JcPenney credit card.

Larcenies

3000 Charnwood, July 12-14, 12 noon to 10:20 a.m.: Complainant advised his tools were stolen out of the home which is new construction over the weekend. Complainant stated his air compressor, compressor hose and a Bostitch nailer were stolen.

Indratech, 1212 East Maple Road, July 1-15, 12 noon to 3:30 p.m.: Complainant advised the breaker valves and copper piping for the sprinkler system were stolen. The system is valued at $600.

2000 block of Vernier, July 16, 1:27 p.m.: Resident reported she was leaving her home and forgot something back in the house, complainant left her purse on the porch while she ran back in. When the complainant returned she observed a male who was passing out pizza coupons, on her porch and grabbing her cigarettes and lighter out of her purse. Complainant confronted the male who returned the items. When the complainant looked further she discovered she had pills missing. Troy Officers located the suspect and could not locate the complainant’s pills however the suspect had a warrant out for his arrest and was taken into custody.

Larcenies from Autos

1000 block of East Maple, July 14-15, 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.: Complainant advised he parked his 20120 Dodge Caravan in the parking lot overnight. Complainant stated the door handle was popped and CDs were stolen and the radio was pried but not stolen. 

San Marino Cement Wall, 1955 Bellingham Drive, July 15-16, 5-10 p.m.: Complainant advised that car batteries were stolen overnight out of a 1978 yellow Crane Carrier Corsair and a 1999 red Mack Truck.

Retail Fraud

Nordstrom, 2850 West Big Beaver Road, July 16, 3:40 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspects, a 19-year-old Troy resident and a 19-year-old Bloomfield Hills resident were observed selecting merchandise and entering the fitting room together.  The suspects then left the store without paying for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise from the suspect’s purse. Total value of the stolen merchandise was $266. Both suspects were arrested for retail fraud. 

Nordstrom, 2850 West Big Beaver Road, July 16, 4:57 p.m.: Nordstrom’s loss prevention advised the suspects, a 20-year-old Windsor, Ontario resident and a 21-year-old La Salle, Ontario resident were observed selecting merchandise and entering the fitting room together. When the suspects left the fitting room half of the merchandise was missing. The suspects exited the store without paying for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise which valued at $151.20. Both suspects were arrested for retail fraud. 

Miscellaneous

5000 block of Limestone, July 15, 9:56 p.m.: Troy Officers responded to a complainant of people lighting off fireworks. Officers located the residence that was responsible and issued a citation for discharging fireworks to the resident.
