Larcenies from Homes and Cars Reported to Troy Police

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Auto/vehicle thefts

Suburban Volvo, 1795 Maplelawn, July 18-19, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.: Complainant advised a silver 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was stolen from the lot. The vehicle was valued at $10,500. 

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud

4000 block of Riverchase, July 16-20, 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.: Resident reported she was contacted by her Discover Card advising purchases were being attempted in Florida. Resident stated no one had permission to use her credit card.

Somerset Mall, 2800 W. Big Beaver, July 20, 12:50 to 2:34 p.m.: Complainant advised his credit card was used to make $865.76 in fraudulent charges using his credit card number. Complainant was in possession of his credit cards during the time of the fraud.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

Dequindre and E. Big Beaver, July 20, 12:51 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was identified as a 34-year-old Sterling Heights resident and was observed smelling strongly of intoxicants. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .11 percent.

Maple and Enterprise, July 20, 7:22 p.m.: Troy Officers were dispatched to an accident investigation, the responsible driver, identified as a 44-year-old Troy resident, was observed smelling strongly of intoxicants. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated (second offense). Breath test results were .10 percent.

Rochester and E. Big Beaver, July 20, 8:41 p.m.: Troy Officers were dispatched to a complaint of a possible drunk driver. The complainants advised they witnessed the vehicle attempt to make a turn-around and the vehicle drove over the median to make the turn. Officers located the vehicle and driver appeared confused and had difficulty understanding officers. Officers requested to pat down the driver who agreed.

Officers discovered prescription medication in the driver’s pocket. The driver agreed to a vehicle search where Officers discovered additional prescription medication without prescription bottles. The driver, identified as a 19-year-old Troy resident, failed field sobrieties and was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of prescription narcotics. A blood test was conducted with results pending.

E. Big Beaver and Livernois, July 20, 11:09 p.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it drive off the road and over the curb onto the grass. The driver, identified as 24-year-old from Switzerland, was observed smelling strongly of intoxicants. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .16 percent.

Livernois and W. Square Lake, July 21, 5:16 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a defective headlight and tinted windows. The driver, identified as a 33-year-old Troy resident, was observed to have glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of intoxicants about his person. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .09 percent. 

Interstate-75 and W. Big Beaver, July 21, 5:30 a.m.: Troy Officers were dispatched to a complainant of a vehicle driving slowly and weaving on the freeway. Officers located the vehicle and observed the vehicle swerve several times. The driver, identified as a 21-year-old Shelby Township resident, was observed to have a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her person. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .12 percent.

Larcenies 

512 Troywood, July 19-20, 4 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Complainant reported the copper plumbing was stolen from the home under construction. Approximate value of the plumbing is $225.

Panera Bread, 1325 Coolidge Hwy., July 20, 9:45 to 10 a.m.: Complainant advised she accidentally set her purse down by the register and left it. When she returned to the register her purse was gone.

Larcenies from autos

Elder Ford, 777 John R Rd., July 20, 8:26 p.m.: Complainant reported two tires were stolen off of a 2008 Cadillac STS and the vehicle was placed onto cement blocks. Total value of the tires $2,000.

Taco Bell, 41167 Dequindre, July 21, 12:30 to 1 a.m.: Complainant stated he parked his vehicle with the doors locked, however, with the windows open while he was in Taco Bell. When the complainant returned he found his center console had been opened with his iPod and loose change missing.  

Malicious destruction of property

4000 block of Holland, July 19-20, 7 p.m. to 12 midnight: Resident advised her vehicle was parked in the driveway and was found to have a 24-inch scratch and a dent on the passenger side of the vehicle. Resident believes the damage may have been caused by a handyman parked in the driveway.

Retail fraud

Kohl’s, 500 John R Rd., July 19, 4:27 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect, an 18-year-old Beverly Hills resident was observed selecting merchandise and concealing it in her purse. The suspect then left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise value at $98. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.

JCPenney, 700 W. 14 Mile Rd, July 20, 4:39 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect a 35-year-old Windsor, Ontario resident, was observed selecting two pairs of earrings and putting them in her pants pocket. The suspect exited the store failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise. Total value of the earrings $50. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.
