Troy Police Say New Father Assaulted Beaumont Hospital Security

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Troy Beaumont Hospital, 44201 Dequindre Rd., Sept. 29, 8:05 a.m.: Troy officers were dispatched on an assaultive parent of a newborn. The suspect was upset due to treatment from the birth of his child and did not want the baby to stay in the hospital for care. The suspect was asked to leave and became violent and struck a security officer in the head with a machine from the patient’s room. Officers arrived and the suspect became combative with officers as well. The suspect, a 27-year-old from Macomb was arrested for hinder and obstruct and assault and battery.

Welfare checks 

Troy Center and West Big Beaver Road, Sept. 27, 5:38 p.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a report of a woman carrying a small child wandering in traffic. Officers located the suspect who appeared extremely intoxicated and could not explain how she got there. The child appeared unharmed; however the suspect had a fresh abrasion on her forehead. The suspect stated she was babysitting the child for her best friend. The child’s mother was contacted and advised the suspect was someone she met recently at the hospital who had a drinking problem. The mother advised she was trying to help the suspect with her problems. The suspect was released pending warrant issue.

Weapons offenses

Holiday Inn Express, 400 Stephenson Hwy., Sept. 17, 1:29 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle. The officers arrived and were met by the caller who was agitated and concerned he was being watched. Officers observed a knife sticking out of the caller’s pocket and removed it for safety. When the caller was questioned if he had any other weapons he stated he had a knife in his backpack. Officers retrieved a 10 inch hunting knife from the backpack as well as some rolling papers used to smoke marijuana. The caller was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The original called in suspicious car was checked and found not to be suspicious.

Rochester and Owendale, Sept. 28, 4 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in a construction zone. The driver had an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to having a “joint” in the ashtray and four small baggies of marijuana in an eyeglass case. The driver advised he had a medical marijuana card and was a provider, however could not supply the officer with the card. The driver was removed from the vehicle and officers discovered a “clip” for a .38 revolver in the driver’s waist band. The officers discovered a .38 revolver in the vehicle. The driver did not have a concealed weapons permit. The driver was arrested for possession with intent to sell and carrying a concealed weapon.
