2013 Election Help from the League of Women Voters Troy Area

Candidates Night is scheduled Oct. 9, among several election-day activities designed to better-prepare you to vote.

Whether you're a lifelong resident to Troy or brand-new in town, an impartial forum to provide information on candidates for public office is a valued asset in days leading up to the Nov. 5 City Council election. The League of Women Voters Troy Area offers area residents three ways to get involved:

Voter Registration Drive

The League of Women Voters of Troy Area will help register voters in two places during the month of September:
  • Where: In the entertainment tent at the Troy Family Daze event Zion Christian Church parking lot (3668 Livernois Rd., Troy)
  • When: During and after the new citizen naturalization ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 6-8 p.m.
  • FYI: A representative from the city clerk's office has volunteered to be on hand so that you will be able to vote via absent voter ballot your first time you vote.

  • Where: The Troy Public Library (510 W. Big Beaver Rd., Troy) for National Voter Registration Day
  • When: Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., again with the city clerk's representative present.
  • FYI: You can register to vote at the city clerk's office, the Secretary of State's office in Michigan, or the Library at any time they are open. You must be registered to vote 30 days before the election in order for you to vote, which in this case, is Oct. 7. Once registered, you don't have to register again unless you move or change your name.
