An Open Letter to Janice Daniels

Dear Janice Daniels,

I received your political mailer today. You sent it to me because you want me to know who you “truly” are.

But, Janice, you forget. I know who you are. You're the person that embarrassed Troy on a national stage by attacking minorities. When given a chance to repair the damage, you doubled down on ignorance. You're the person that removes lawn signs in order to suppress the speech of others. You're the person that treated Troy's Distinguished Citizen of 2012 dismissively because you had an axe to grind.

And now you want to do it all again.

But this time, you're trying to play is smart. You're hiding from the public and avoiding your Tea Party cred. You're sending your supporters to throw tantrums at city council meetings and accuse City Council of illegal behavior. (Let's not pretend these men aren't your supporters. One of them signed your petition for you run for council.)

And are you serious? You and your friends want the City Council to order the City Attorney to issue warrants for the arrest of City Council?  Do you realize how completely insane that is? 

But I digress. Let's return to your mailer, shall we?

First, Janice, it's not nice to copy off the work of others. You're cribbing off of Councilman Henderson's mailer from 2011. In 2011, Dave Henderson promised to “strengthen and empower families in our community.” How odd, Janice. You're saying the exact same thing. In 2011, Dave Henderson promised to “protect retirement income and properties for seniors.” Your mailer changed a couple of words. You're saying you'll “protect retirement income for seniors and meet their needs.” Henderson said he'd “work to fix roads all around our community.” You're saying you'll “work to fix the roads in our community.”

Heck, Janice, you even took Councilman Henderson's slogan! Dave said “It's unanimous – Dave stands with us!” You just took out Councilman Henderson's name and inserted your own!

How very disingenuous. Did you copy off the other's papers when you were in high school?

Then again, Janice, we've seen you copy the work of others before. I remember when you copied the Recall Janice Daniels logo to fight your recall.

Oh, and what about that picture? How many of those people live in Troy? Actually, none. It's a stock photo “borrowed” from the Internet. So I guess the only people that show you unanimous support are the strangers in photographs.

So, honestly, Janice, you're up to your same old tricks. You and your friends are trying to stir up controversy while you claim to be “concerned American citizen" and not a career politician.

But that's one fact we do agree on, Janice: You're not a career politician. Your political career ended on November 06, 2012 when the people of Troy fired you. And we have no intention of hiring you back.
